— SYNOPSIS

Some endings are only the beginning.

When Gabrielle McKay's husband and son are taken in a fatal car accident, she walks away from everything — her home, her career, and most especially her faith. Broken in a way that most people can only imagine, Gabrielle finds herself hiding out in a homeless shelter for two years.

Then Devin Ramos arrives — a dedicated high school teacher who begins volunteering at the shelter. Patient, persistent, and quietly faithful, he challenges every wall she has built.

When he asks her to represent his troubled student in court, Gabrielle must choose: turn her back on God's restorative power once more, or risk her fearful heart for someone else's salvation.

"Some things bury us. And some things refuse to stay buried."

I read it in one breathless sitting and then sat in silence for an hour. A rare, holy kind of novel.
Goldson writes grief like someone who has actually walked through it. This story finds you exactly where you are.
Tender, restrained, devastating, and ultimately full of hope. Every page felt like an answered prayer.
The kind of book you press into a friend's hands and say, 'please — read this slowly.'
